The Image Flow in Mill Valley, CA

Terms & Conditions

The Image Flow is offering the use of its facilities and equipment on a limited basis to a selected Artist in Residence. Due to the nature of our business as a production and educational facility, certain areas/equipment may not always be accessible. We ask the the chosen AIR work with us and respect the staff workflow when this is the case. The Image Flow staff will have limited availability to assist the AIR due to daily work tasks.

This is a work-only residency; artists not local to the area are welcome to apply but will need to secure housing arrangements independently. The residency will last approximately 2-3 months, with the possibility of extension. The time frame for the residency is flexible, ideally taking place between the months of June and September 2018, depending on the availability of the selected resident photographer.
The chosen AIR will be provided a dedicated workspace with Epson 7880 and Epson 3880 inkjet printers, access to our photo studio and lighting, traditional and alternative process darkrooms, and a limited supply of inkjet papers for printing purposes.
Residents will need to provide a personal laptop or computer for use with the inkjet printers. For the use of the darkrooms, residents will need to provide their own papers/chemicals. Likewise, the selected AIR should plan to provide their own primary camera(s) for use during the residency. The possibility exists for the resident photographer to make use of in-house cameras at the discretion of the staff.
At the close of the residency, participants will donate a selection of work to The Image Flow's Artist in Residence Collection, the details of which are negotiable upon acceptance. The resident photographer may also choose to present a lecture on their work to the community, though this will be voluntary. There will also be the possibility for the chosen AIR to mount an exhibition of work created during the course of the residency.
The Image Flow reserves the right to terminate the residency at the discretion of the owner.
